What is REIKI?

Reiki

Reiki was founded by Japanese healer, Mikao Usui in the early 20th century after years of research and dedication to healing others.

‘Rei’ means ‘God’s wisdom’ and ‘Ki’ means ‘life force energy’.

It is a Japanese healing modality based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic principles. It’s core focus is to balance the body’s 7 main chakras, which are the body’s key energy points and spiritual centres.

Practitioners are
attuned to life’s universal energy

Reiki Practitioners channel energy through their hands and into the body, clearing and revitalising the chakras. It can be performed using a hands-on or non-contact healing approach, where the practitioner will either place their hands on or if the client prefers, just above the chakras across the body.

At the simplest level,
Reiki activates the body’s relaxation response,
as the body falls into a
meditative state.

Reiki is often seen to enhance emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical wellbeing by releasing energetic blocks throughout the body. These life force energies can reduce pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and even blood pressure.

Many report powerful and intense feelings or wonderfully warming sensations as the nourishing, healing energies radiate throughout the body.

Some simply feel relaxed and a sense of calm. Reiki energy is intuitive, and will flow wherever it needs to go.
